Propane Insider Marketing System
What is PIMS?
PIMS is the whole marketing department for an independent propane dealer, inside one subscription. It covers six parts: local SEO, Google Business Profile, listings and NAP, reviews, a vendor blog, and AI search. It is built for propane dealers. The aim is booked stops, not clicks.
Who is PIMS for?
Independent propane dealers. Owner-operators. About 1 to 50 trucks. No marketing staff on the payroll. PIMS is the department those yards would otherwise have to staff or outsource.
If you run bulk plants and roll trucks inside a real service area, this page is for you. Homeowners looking up a local propane company should use the propane company directory. This page does not sell propane. Propane Insider sells software. We do not deliver propane, and we do not imply that we do.
The reader we wrote this for is the person who already knows the trucks, the plants, and the winter book. Marketing has been a side job, a vendor invoice, or a thing that never quite got staffed. PIMS is that department, pointed at booked stops — new accounts on the truck — not at traffic reports.
What are the six parts?
All six sit in one subscription. The work is described with capability verbs: built so, shaped so, checks, flags, drafts, can. Here is what each part does, in the same words we print on the operator one-pager.
- Local SEO — radius-based rank tracking + per-location optimization for every service area you cover.
- Google Business Profile — auto-posting, AI-drafted Q&A, AI-drafted review responses you approve.
- Listings & NAP — 52 directories tracked per location, mismatches flagged (NAP, hours, services).
- Reviews — post-service SMS asks, response automation, sentiment routing to dispatch. Every response is drafted for the dealer and published on the dealer's approval. "Response automation" means drafting, never publishing on its own. Review asks go to the dealer's own customers who opted in, on the dealer's say-so, with the opt-out built in.
- Vendor blog — 1-2 posts per week drafted in your voice, your topics, your service area.
- AI Search (AEO) — per-engine optimization + entity-authority signals. Built so AI engines can find and cite the dealer.
Rank tracking in local SEO is the name of a feature that measures position. It is not a claim about a number or about movement. Pillar six is a capability: built so AI engines can find and cite the dealer. It is not a promise that they will.
How does PIMS treat your service area?
Your configured service area is the truth. Public pages print a 30-35 mile delivery radius as the usual circle. Highway corridors, open county, and tribal service areas can stretch that circle. We do not print a mileage as a fact about your yards.
City pages follow the same rule. A dealer gets a city page for every town inside the configured area. We do not quote a page count for the dealer. The pages Propane Insider already runs on this site are our own baseline, not a number we assign to you.
That radius is physical. A propane truck has a real range from the plant. Marketing that talks to towns the truck cannot reach is noise. PIMS is shaped so the work stays inside the area you actually cover.
What does PIMS check and flag?
PIMS audits and flags — it tracks 52 directories per location and surfaces every mismatch on name, address, phone, hours, and services, plus a one-line fix if robots.txt is blocking a named AI crawler. You stay in control: PIMS never edits your site code or takes over a third-party platform, and tracking 52 directories isn't the same as claiming you're listed on all 52.
Structured data on a dealer site is a naming layer. It tells a machine who the business is, where it operates, and how to reach it. PIMS checks that layer and flags gaps. Adding schema is entity clarity. It is not a citation promise.
Review replies are drafted for the dealer. Nothing goes out as a review request except to the dealer's own customers who opted in, on the dealer's say-so, with the opt-out built in. There is no review gating.
Who built PIMS?
Bill Stomp ran 87 branch offices across 12 states over a 25-year operator career, combat veteran. He's since helped 200+ propane companies. Those numbers belong to Bill Stomp and to nobody else. They are not restated as the dealer's record.
The credential is an operating career, not a current delivery business. Propane Insider sells software. PIMS is what that career asked for when the marketing work had to sit beside the trucks.
Who runs it in the field?
Southwest Propane runs it across three locations in New Mexico. That is the PIMS customer we name on a public page. No other propane company is named here. No person's name is used, and no customer words are quoted, because no approved PIMS quote exists.
The full Southwest write-up lives on the Southwest Propane case study. The product overview is the PIMS landing page.
What should you read next?
If you want the mechanism behind Maps and AI answers, read how a propane company gets found in AI answers and Google Maps. If you are comparing help, read what to look for when you hire propane marketing help. To see operators and vendors on this site, use the directory.
Service is month-to-month. Cancel on 30 days' notice. There is no long-term lock-in on the service. We do not print a PIMS price on this page. Scope is quoted on a demo against your real office count.
Propane Insider also publishes a newsletter. That list is our own audience. It is not the dealer's market and it is not reach the dealer is buying. PIMS promises no links from it. If you want a short paper sheet for an internal meeting, use the operator one-pager. The live dashboard walk-through is a separate demo. Book thirty minutes when you want numbers on your own hubs, not a generic deck.
