Yes, with the right permission and sending process. A delivery phone number alone is not permission for a review-text campaign. Have counsel check the exact text and the tool that sends it. The rules depend on both.
What permission should the office keep?
Our advice is to ask for permission to send review requests. Save what the customer agreed to, when and how. This is our house practice. It does not mean every review text has the same legal status.
The FCC rule requires prior express written consent for covered automated telemarketing calls and texts. It allows reasonable ways to revoke consent, including STOP replies. State rules may also apply. Give counsel the text, any linked offer and the sending tool's details.
How should we ask for a review?
Ask for an honest account of a real service visit. Let the customer choose the words and rating. Google's policy bars rewards for reviews and requests aimed only at happy customers.
Use these office checks before launch:
- Have counsel review the message and sending method.
- Save the permission record with the account.
- Show staff how to handle an opt-out.
- Test the stop list with staff accounts.
- Keep the approved text and test results together.
These checks are advice, not a legal safe harbor. Read the review process and review incentive rules. This page is US background, not legal advice or clearance to send.
