Question: “What service area does Google allow for my propane company?”

Set your Google Business Profile service area with the cities, postal codes or other supported areas you serve. Google does not support a radius setting. It allows up to 20 service areas. It generally says the whole boundary should be within about two hours' drive from your base. That is not a delivery target.

Is this our delivery radius?

No. Google's guide explains the profile controls. Your dispatch territory is a separate business choice. Your website's GeoCircle is also separate site data.

Our advice is to have dispatch approve the places before marketing edits the profile. Do not add a town just because the form permits it. The office should know the places it advertises.

How do we edit the profile?

  1. Get the current territory list from dispatch.
  2. Compare it with the website and office instructions.
  3. In the profile, choose Edit profile, then Location and Service area.
  4. Add or remove places to match the approved list. Save the change.
  5. Read the public profile and share the final list with the office.

Google says to remove the address if you do not serve customers there. Use the service area instead. Do not present a delivery-only base as a walk-in store.

What should our provider show us?

Ask for the proposed places and the person who approved them. Then ask to see the public profile. A screen showing an edit is not proof of what a customer can see.

Our advice is to keep one dated territory list. When dispatch drops a town, update the profile and website together. These are office practices, not a promise of rankings or AI mentions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter a 35-mile radius in Business Profile?

Google uses named places, not a radius. Use supported cities, postal codes or areas. Check that the website and delivery plan agree with those places, while keeping the settings distinct.

Should I list every place within Google’s maximum?

No. Our advice is to list only places you serve. The form's maximum is not a reason to expand a route. Have dispatch approve the territory before marketing changes the profile.

Does adding a town guarantee we rank there?

No ranking is promised. A service-area edit describes where you serve customers. Ask the provider to show the accurate edit and keep any later search results separate.

Who should own the territory list?

Our advice is for operations to approve it and marketing to maintain the public wording. Keep one dated list. Name a person to update both the site and profile when service changes.

What should I check after a profile edit?

Read the public profile. Compare it with the approved list and the website. Save the change record. Resolve any mismatch with the office before using the profile for new marketing copy.
