The Milford Fire Department in Milford, Connecticut, is extending an invitation to Milford residents for a Propane Tank Collection Day on Saturday, October 14, 2023. This event aims to gather propane cylinders, including those from gas grills, to ensure their safe disposal. It’s important to note that this collection is exclusively for Milford residents, and proof of residency will be a requirement. There is no cost associated with this collection initiative.
The collection site will be located at 55 Seemans Lane in Milford, directly across from Meadowside School. Residents can drop off their propane cylinders between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the designated day.
For a smooth and safe collection process, please adhere to the following guidelines:
• Prepare Proof of Residency: Ensure you have a valid proof of residency ready for presentation.
• Transport Tanks Upright: Tanks should be transported upright to prevent leaks or mishaps.
• Driver Responsibility: Ideally, only the driver should be involved in transporting the tank or tanks.
• Close Valve: Ensure that each tank’s valve is securely closed.
• Acceptable Tank Types: The collection will accept packed, partially full, and empty 20-pound tanks.
• Avoid Venting: Please refrain from venting the tank before transportation.
Securing the tanks to prevent accidental tipping is strongly advised to enhance safety during transportation. Keep vehicle windows open while transporting the tanks, and no smoking is permitted during the transportation process or within the drop-off area.
The Milford Fire Department is committed to ensuring the safe and responsible disposal of propane cylinders for Milford residents. This collection day is a great opportunity to dispose of these items properly and contribute to a safer community.
